The World Wide Web (or the "Web") is a large collection of webpages,
which can be files that contain information in the form of coloured text, pictures, sound, animation, video or applets (little computer programs).
These webpages may reside in different computers all over the world and
may be inter-linked to one another.
What is so special about the Web?
1. There are open standards that allow web-pages to be viewed through almost any
computer
2. Web pages allow software and data files available for downloading.
3. Web pages are easy to use - just point and click on your browser
4. Web pages make "publishing" easy and cost-effective.
5. Web documents can be revised and updated at any time.
